ScreenToast / Features / Edit by transcript
Edit your screen recording by editing the text.
ScreenToast transcribes what you said while recording, on your Mac, and lets you edit the video through the words. Delete a sentence and the video cuts with it. Remove every "um" and long pause in one click.
Record and edit free, no sign-in. Pro from $4.92/month when you export.
Why edit by transcript
On a timeline, finding a fumbled sentence means scrubbing back and forth listening for it. In a transcript, you just read. For talking-heavy demos and tutorials, it turns an hour of cutting into a few minutes of deleting text.
What you can do
- Delete a word or sentence and that part of the video is cut. Everything after it closes up, with zooms, captions and audio staying in step.
- Remove filler words, every "um" and "uh", in one click.
- Tighten long pauses so the demo keeps moving.
- Fix the transcript so the captions spell your product's name right.
- Undo anything. Your original recording is never changed. Edits sit on top, so a cut you regret can be put back.
Pairs well with
- Speed-ups: play every stretch of typing at 3× with one command, and drop silent stretches entirely.
- Captions: the same transcript becomes captions in four styles, and an .srt file.
Private by design
Transcription runs on your Mac. Your recording isn't uploaded to make the transcript.
