ScreenToast

ScreenToast / Features / Hide sensitive info

Hide API keys and emails in your screen recordings, automatically.

Real products show real data. ScreenToast reads your recording for API keys, tokens, email addresses, phone numbers and card numbers, and covers every one, even as it scrolls past. You review what it found before you export.

Record and edit free, no sign-in. Pro from $4.92/month when you export.

A blur that stays on what it covers, even when the picture zooms.

What it finds

KindExamples
API keys and tokensSecret keys in a dashboard, bearer tokens in a terminal
Private keys and secretsKey files and secret values opened in an editor
Email addressesCustomer lists, sign-in screens, inboxes
Phone and card numbersBilling pages, CRM records
Your own wordsA customer's name, an internal hostname, a project codename
Your own patternsA regular expression for anything the built-in rules miss

How it works

  1. Record as normal. No need to prepare fake data first, though it never hurts.
  2. Run the scan. ScreenToast reads the text on screen through the whole recording, on your Mac.
  3. Review the list. Every match is shown; keep or remove each cover.
  4. Choose the look: a blur, or a solid mask that blends in.

Covers follow the text as it moves, so a key that scrolls up a terminal stays hidden the whole way.

Manual blur, too

For anything else, like a notification or a face in a thumbnail, drag a blur box onto the preview, resize it, and set the strength from a light frost to completely unreadable. Blurs are anchored to the recording, so when a zoom moves the picture the blur goes with it.

If a live API key was visible, even briefly, the safe move is still to rotate it. Hiding it in the video protects viewers from seeing it; it doesn't un-leak a key you've already shared.

Record your real product without leaking it.

Under 10 MB to download, macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. Free until you export; Pro from $4.92/month after that.
